Okay so I have an Alienware M17x R4, and have had a few issues with it. Now I had the video card replaced because they said that that was the issue. No luck, so now I have a GTX 675m in my laptop with no proper way to use it. I have included a picture to better describe what's happening. I'm not sure what's wrong, and now they're apparently not even going to call me back for a day or two. Is it the motherboard, possibly something else?

Okay so I noticed the power state was at 12, did a little digging with support and they're sending me a different power brick. I noticed that it was locking it in P12 and would only allow up to P8; which are both low power consumption modes. It never clued in that when the laptop was first turned on it said I needed a 240 w power supply instead of the 180 that came with the laptop. I'll update when it arrives and i'll see if it fixes the issue.

Yes that should solve it, its likely the brick ident meaning the machine wont go full pelt.

I got a knock on my door the next day, so I was super excited. Plugged it in, BOOM solved it. My faith in Dell/Alienware is restored.

I'd try and get your old PSU replace with the 240W if you can, they obviously sent you the wrong one I guess.

Plus its nice to have 2 so you can have one in a permanent setting.

Well I originally had a GTX 660m so it never drew as much power, which is why I assume they sent the 180W. I had to get my first one replaced because it was faulty, then the second one. Eventually they just upgraded it for me at no cost because of all the issues.

Ahh makes sense, ahh well they are cheap enough anyways, not a big deal compared to the upgrade you got anyways.

    Enjoy your laptop anyways :)
