Hi all! For 2-3 years :) planned to update laptop with qx9300, some 1333 ram and sure the GPU, but only yesterday swapped ram to Hynix 1333 2x4gb and changed 260m to 5870m (like sellers said - MSI, Asus and Alienware compatible).
    Now what I've got.
Messed up colors, looks like.. [IMG]
I've checked vbios, it's MSI one. I'm running Windows 8.1, tried to install these ATI/dell drivers 8.763, failed in 8.1, then flashed vbios to new dell version - got a black screen, flashed back to backup vbios, tried it again on win Vista (where 8.763 drivers were easily installed) - black screen.
Flashed some older vBIOS (a0 I believe) - black screen again.
    Fans are ok.

How to make it work properly and is it possible at all?
The only reason for this swap is DX11.
And sorry for my English :)

I don't think so... maybe it could work on M17x R2, but M17x R1 has far more limited support for aftermarket GPU's.
Can you post a GPU-z screen? Just to make sure it is 5870M and not 5850M since both are reported as radeon 5800series, but 5850M will not work in M17x R1/R2 no matter what brand (inverted colours).

If you are interested, i think i still have a Dell 5870M somewhere

Tried to flash ASUS g73 and Clevo vBIOSes, both acts like MSI vbioses, screen is working, but the same strange way
When flashing to every founded version of dell bioses - black screen, where I perform a backup to MSI one by USB flash driver blindly)

P/N of ASUS and MSI looks similar (like a file with extension), the Dell one is different (I don't know, does it matter or not :))

Yeah that are definitely 5870M clocks... i guess the MSI just doesn't work with M17x... not the first time it happened...
Ok i'll check out my box if i can source one out...

Just a little update - I've connected VGA display and it works, colors seems to be normal, greens too light and fonts not the best looking! But anyway, notebook display color messup and HDMI not working
