I have an Alienware M17x Laptop and am trying to get the Alienware Tactx keyboard macro keys for gaming (World of Warcraft) to work with it. The basic keyboard works its the macro keys I cant get to work with the Alienware M17x laptop.
I connected the Tactx keyboard to 2 Non-Alienware Desktop (other Dell systems) and I can get the marco keys to work with World of Warcarft just fine.
I there an issue that the M17x laptop onboard keyboard is causing interferance with the Tactx macro keys? Is there a way to disable the Laptops keyboard to test this?
Dell doesn't have an answer they in fact sent me to this forum to get help. So help someone out there have any help?

Just disconnect the keyboard from the motherboard I suppose.

Alienware has informed me today that the Tactx keyboard macro keys on a M17x-R3 do not work at least the Games I have tried (World of Warcraft and Star Wars The Old Republic). Alienware Engineering has been informed. An update date to fix this issue is unknown.

There is a ton of good information from the link in this post by DELLChrisM... please take a look. Be sure to leave a note for Chris and maybe give rep if you find the docs informative. We are very fortunate to have Dell Reps like DELLChrisM and Dell-Bill_B participating in our Community.
One of the Level 3 Engineering docs covers this issue, specifically:
Alienware M17x R3 & M18x: User cannot use 3 keys combo in some combination
Be sure to look at both the M17xR3 and M18x technical documents because some of the technical information applies equally or in part to both machines. -
Thank for trying to help Mr. Fox, but none of your posting help with my thread. Chris M was the first person to try and answer my thead. Chris answer was to go to forums and learn how to make Tactx key macros, not the answer I needed. I know how to make macros, I am a 30 year computer software/hardware design engineer. The Tactx macro keys work find in my games WoW & SWTOR on my Dell Desktop.
Alienware Engineers have confirmed that the M17x-R3 has issues with the Tactx macro keys and are working on an update to resolve this issue.
I dont have every MMo game out there to test with. All I can tell you is that the Tactx macro keys don't work on a M17x-R3 in World of Warcraft (WOW) & Star Wars The Old Republic (SWTOR).
I am writing this to let others know this so they don't go through 6 days of techical support troubleshooting, and searching forums. No other forum covers this fact. Please let the world know so they do not go through the headaches I have been through finding this anwser.
Alienware Tactx Keyboard Macro keys has issues on a Alienware M17x-R3 Laptop. It will not work with WOW or SWTOR. A fact confirmed by Alienware Support Engineers. Alienware is working on an update to resolve this issue. Release date wasn't given to me.
