Hello, lurked forum here and and there. Anways got a good question. Recently had my 580m go out on me , so i ordered a new one to quick swap and cant seem to get the comp to notice the new card. When booted with the new card the comp will fail POST and give me 8 beeps. I looked into that and its a LCD failure, which cannot be possible. A side note myold card will work in battery mode but when plugged in it will last about 10 seconds before crashing. Whocrashed tells me its a video_tdr_error. wondering if i need to reflash my vbios and/or normal bios.

reflash would be wise to put it on the checked list, pull the laptop apart again and make sure that all the connections are good and snug, boot it up and it should be fine, but try the tear down first before flashing the video card. Worse case scenario you might have to rma it

My computer is out of warranty. So RMA is out? What bugs me is the old card when running off battery will work but once plugged in bam crash. Gonna try a reflash. Will update with results.

You could always reup the warranty, i can buy an extra 3 years for my m17x r2 and just pay the extra money for it and they will allow it, well minus the gtx 580m upgrade
