hi , I have a very frustrating issue going on with my alienware Mx17 R4 Laptop
when i launch an application like An MMO , or CounterStrike , sometimes a simple web page the screen Flickers in and out black to picture black to picture and eventuall settles on the picture, (70%) of the time , now if i was playing an MMO the computer sometimes wouldnt Even launch the application and if it does its guranteed to flicker and go black permanently within an hour or two and eventually restart.
This computer is 2weeks old and is meant to have no problem with these types of things it is a gaming laptop. This is not my only problem when Downloading or installing a file for example it would restart the computer then would not boot saying NTLDR is missing (I am very unsure if NTLDR are the right letters but very close) i called dell and they told me to do a diagnostic check, i did it and wow it works , i Know there is something not right with this computer and i want it fixed, im very good at ripping people a new A***ole when i have the facts im not sure if its a overheating issue because my fan is constantly on pushing out very warm air espically when games are running.

If someone out there can give me a straight up awnser to what this Is or could be would be much appreciated

try doing a fresh install of windows with your restore dvd and install the latest drivers from dell's website and see whether or not your still having the same issue. Your experiencing either a driver/software conflict or worst case bad ram, hard drive or video card.

I had the same issue on my R2. Did a driver re-install, and it didn't fix it. I did a full reformat and no more issues. Try it out with a driver re-install first and report back.
