Alienware sent me here, so ill post a short history then get to the main point.

When i bought my m17x rev 2, i always had crashs and power failures, i thought it was my video cards for the longest time/ati 5870 crossfire/ however dell said the issue was was a power failure that they were working on, told me unplug charger from laptop, take out battery and then press power button for 30 seconds, and leave charger unpluged from outlet, and that i should not worry about the charger cause its not the charger, though i didn't ask about it.
since 2010 i have had to do the resets more and more, getting little to no help from dell, also they said they would notify me when they solved the power issue, when i asked them over time they said they are still trying to figure it out, i believe i asked that is 2012?

then just recently my charger stopped working and started beeping, so i stuck to a third party alienware charger thats not chargeing my battery, but the power failures stopped, no more crashing.
now back in highschool i used to replace plagued dell optiplex motherboard capacitors, motherboard would beep the same way the charger is, so i said the heck with it and opened my charger and looked at the capacitors and blamo, Taicon 420v 68uF plagued capacitors all three of them.

I have a photo of it and i am looking for the right place to get replacement capacitors cause i don't want to pay for a replacement charger that may have the same issues down the road ahead.

the forum would not let me upload the photo so i will put a link to it

Most of your post confused me but it does seem the power adapter was just faulty. And just needed a new one. How bought you buy or get dell to send you a new power supply that is for your machine.

Im sorry i tried to compress almost 4 years of stuff into something small and easy to read.

dell never wanted to replace the charger, the most i got them to do is replace some heating fans that went bad, even that was hard since i could not really use my computer and they said i needed a software warrenty to check my hardware, i kid you not.

I don't think dell is willing to replace the faulty charger, i tried logging onto their site and resetting my password even tried to get into online chat, i basically got nowhere.
i even looked around for a capacitor plague replacement warrenty or something.
or a send my charger in and get a replacement at half the cost.

this M17x rev 2 i bought in 2010 so i think im all alone on this one.
I think my only option is to buy some simlier capacitors and replace the faulty ones myself.

i bought a third party charger online for alienware m17x for 15-30$ somewhere around there, it powers up my machine but is not reconized as a charger
so i can't charge my battery yet everything else runs fine, play games at the same pace, wtach videos, do facebook, facebook games, no crashs, but my m17x is a laptop not a desktop i want to take it places not be bound to a wall plug
i have been looking around for capacitors and found something i might give a try

I would think these capacitors would do the job. Are the caps in your PSU actually bloated? I know those Optiplex's well they all had those dodgy caps in them!

the one showing the plague is abit bloated EDIT/ the one showing the most plague, all three have the plaque/, i don't think they bloated as bad cause they are bigger then the ones from the optiplex's, might also be a updated version of them.

I don't see anything going wrong, i hope i have the right measurements, seems like the metal case is the heat sink for the charger motherboard, so i have to re gunk it to make sure/use the stuff similier to artic sliver but solidfys/
when i worked on the optiplexs my tech boss would get a load of capacitors, as long as they had the same V and uF they would work perfect, size didn't matter, but size matters for my charger.

ill post how it goes, most likly i see it turning out good, and i'd feel alot better with it, then a new OEM dell charger.

If i fail ill let you guys know, if i succed ill let you guys know, nothing to lose in my opinion.
