    Hello everybody,

I have an Alienware M17x, bought it last summer, and, as i've noticed here, there are 2 editions of the laptop, so i guess mine is the first one. I have a quad code Q9000, Nvidia GTX 260M, 4GB RAM and HDD 500Gb. For about 2 weeks im having a problem with my video card. If i want to login into the system with the hybrid enabled, after having passed the Windows logo, the screen turns off (black) and the fan is not working anymore. Installed more drivers version (now is an older one as the last driver from nVidia website are buggy) but without luck. If i login in safe mode, the cooler is working properly, however the video card its not working (in the device managed i can see it but i just receive the message that in safe mode no information can be displayed about the card). So, the GTX 260M is not working in the normal mode and have no ideea why. It just started one day and keeps stopping the fan once i login. Has any encountered this problem??? Do you have any ideeas what the root cause can be? Hope it's just the dust, as i havent cleaned it for an year :)
P.S. Sorry for my english, not a native speaker

Would recommend getting the older WQHL'd drivers from the Dell site. The old ones from 2009. Try that and see if anything changes. What version is your bios?

Not overclocking in the bios, never done that as im not a pro in this. Have updated BIOS to A04 but the same issue occurs. Tried a lot of drivers, now im on the old ones from the Alienware page on the Dell's website. Went yesterday to Dell's service, i'm happy they accepted my international warranty and told me the issue will be fixed in 2 days. Will let u know what the cause was, as if it's a software problem, maybe some one else will have the same issue. If there's a PRO between us, please let me know if the video card fan has different speed modes? can it be affected somehow by the need of using the video card more or less? Thank you
