I have had my m17x for a few days now. I have a couple of questions on the graphics card.

My laptop came with the new A05 Bios already installed, how do I go about overclocking the graphics card and what settings do I use?

Are there two versions of the GTX 680m with different memorys? Ive read people have 4gb versions in their Clevos and MSI but in the nvidia control panel on mine its says 2gb and on the nvidia website its says it has 2gb. whats the real story?

The Alienware's have 2GB 680ms. Download MSI Afterburner or Nvidia Inspector, both should let you overclock.

    thanks, whats the recommended settings?

So do the MSI and clevo have modified versions of the 680m then, are they twice as powerful?

I think most people are able to hit max OC (as far as the slider will go), so like 853 core or something like that, at stock voltage.

The other versions have twice as much memory, they are not any more powerful, unless you are running something that needs 2+ gigs of video memory (basically a few simulators, no real games require anywhere near that much).

Make sure that you monitor the temps if you are planning the overclock. Eldaren is right, we offer only the 2GB version on our laptops at the moment.

There is something seriously messed up about your prices, Alienware.

    Clevo/Sager now takes $245 more for 680M over 7970M. Its 4GB 680Ms.
Alienware takes $350 more for 680M over 7970M, but offer 2GB less than Clevo.

Alienware buyers get 2GB less VRAM for $85 more.

    Why?

Else they can't make it look "Premium" enough for the uninformed user..
