All the choices you provided via the links are fine .Go for the cheapest :)

Have a look at link for Kingston HyperX 4GB (2 x 2GB) it's 1600MHz but does not matter a few on forum with R2's got them in the US.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104159

Have not looked around to see the availability in UK but have a sniff about on the net for UK availability .

I would personally go for the hyperX. I've used Corsair's desktop line and they had a hard time maintaining stability even if they were rated at 1600mhz. I only use Mushkin or Kingston now. Corsair for PSUs only lol.

this is what i'm saying: if they are able to work @1600 and the R2 will use them @1333 there should be more OC headroom in there with the Hyper X.

Hahaha - I went through exactly the same searches. Trust me. Its not available in the UK. I had to get a fellow NBR member to buy it on my behalf (obviously with my cash via paypal) from the US and agree to send it to me. Its the only way I could find it.

It WAS on NewEgg...I believe they have sold out now too along with buy.com

Good luck on finding it in the UK, if you do, hats off to you! post it up here!

As long as the Kingston memory is better then the other brands i have found in my above post then i will wait till they are availablem the laptop only runs at a maximum of 1333 but 1600 just will clock down.

If anyone has had any of the other brands, please let me know what the performance is like is i can compare.

I heard G.Skill is a good brand and a 8gb kit (2x4gb) will be going on sale at newegg as a shellshocker deal for $64 at 6 pm pst. It is in about 2 hours I think.

Edit: And you can get an extra 15% off at newegg on all laptop memory with this code: LM15FB11US. The code lasts untill tomorrow.

Thought I would post this as lots of owners seem to want this HyperX ram. Buy.com were out of stock when I looked but set a reminder to email me when back in.

I have just had mail! - so, if you are QUICK and WANT this memory, better get yourself over to:

    Buy.com - Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 SDRAM 1600MHz 204-Pin Laptop Memory

The link says "hurry - limited stock" soo get ya skates on peeps!

Unfortunately, the UK Buy.com is still showing as no stock.... http://uk.buy.com/pr/product.aspx?sku=217597104

Again, for those of you in the UK wanting HyperX 8gb 1600 kits, because when I was looking, I registered with quite a few places to tell me when back in stock....and i got mail again thismorning!!! :D

This is ONE HECK OF A DEAL given that its a UK price of ONLY £82.14inc vat.

Get your skates on Demolition Man.....PM sent!

    Others can view and buy here: Kingston HyperX memory - 8 GB : 2 x 4 GB - SO DIMM 204-pin - DDR3 Shop UK : Ballicom.co.uk : Buy Kingston HyperX...

(they have it described as "value ram" but, if you look at the specs, the part number is the same and so is the speed - I think they just got their wires crossed on info, eh? - it is described at the very top as XMP memory so it IS the same one.....

If they run out, the guys over here http://www.lambda-tek.com/componentshop/index.pl?origin=notif&prodID=2098000 have also kindly notified that they now have UK stock for a few pennies cheaper.

Take your pick! (just like buses, you wait for one and none come, then 3 come all at once!)

Good price eh? - I saw them at one point at Buy.com (UK) for £69.99....I jumped on it as they said were in stock...as soon as I hit order, they were out! - was quite gutted!

All in all, I paid £77.00 which includes shipping from the US and a free Kingston 2gb USB Flash Drive....Im just hoping that customs dont decide they wanna take a bite out of my ****......the guy who's sending it is sending as used ram so here's hoping.....

Yeah, i think so...although i think anyting over £36gbp is classed different. I think if its "used" its ok, hence why thats how its being sent. Only time will tell, and if I do get clobbered, its only likely to be for about £14 max which would still be about the same price as it would have been in the UK if it WAS in stock when I sorted it.

Have you had yours yet Katalin?

Actually, just reworked how much I paid and it was $115usd (inc his shipping costs to ship it to me) so thats about £70gbp.....if i get hit by customs, might be max of £84.00 (20%) so still cheaper than buying in the UK for me....and I get that nice kingston flash drive....

Would be even sweeter if I dont pay any customs!

I know when I looked in the UK, they were rare and priced high too....it was actually your good self that made me even think of asking someone to ship from the states.

I wouldnt say "huge" but if the system takes 8gb, its gonna use it. I mainly got it because of my "odd" ram configuration. 6gb for me wasnt ideal beacuse although it runs in dual channel, because of the odd sized sticks, the remaining ram over 4gb runs in Intel Flex Mode which I believe is single channel. I did read up on it ages ago and it didnt seem it was as beneficial setup as two matching sticks - hence the 8gb HyperX.

I mean, when I got my system, I think Dell were charging £300 to go from 4gb to 8gb. Now ive managed to do that myself with better quality ram for a quater of the price! - so im gonna be happy whatever happens!

I think the fact that the HyperX is 1600mhz, and I know our R2's will only use 1333mhz, will allow for slightly more headroom when overclocking the ram....im yet to dive into the world of OC'ing!

Thanks for the input man !
As for the World of OC - I'm with you on that boat)

RAM will be here tomorrow or Saturday.

P.S. at the same time , is anyone interested buying 4 gigs ? ))

Hahaha, that was gonna be my next question LOL - actually, I do have a question regarding getting shut of my factory installed ram with regards to warranty.

I am assuming here that changing out ram will NOT void any warranty? - maybe I should check with Dell and if need be, keep hold of my 6gb...not gonna get much for it anyhow!
