Hello everyone, i have recently purchased Guild Wars 2 and i seem to be running the game at 50fps+ on auto-detect, 40fps+ on appearance but i get random fps drops when touching water or for no reason, and also get like a 5-10 second duration of fps drops (under 20 fps) in World vs World and in the worst case scenario get steady at 30fps + on average 40-45fps and randomly drop again.

I'm running on an Alienware m17xR3
    Playing guildwars 2 @ 1920x resolution
    I7 2630QM cpu @ 2.00 ghz (6MB cache)
    6gb ram 1333mhz
    Amd 6990m 2gb
    Windows 7 64bit
I'm not sure if the cpu or gpu is placed on the left or right but the air ducts on the back side of the laptop, i can only feel the right one taking out air while the left side has very little air. I am talking about the air ducts at the back not the fans placed under the laptop, not sure if it means or anything but just stating it.

    Thanks.

You also experiencing Fdps drop when playing guildwars 2? just same as me, mine using gtx 580m, i played other games with ultra settings etc, and i never got fps drop.. and my gpu is not even hit 78`C..
And this is the only game that i experience with fps drop. My settings was maxed and it runs around 60-40 fps.. but sometimes dropped from 20-10 fps, i don't really know what's going on,

My brother playing guildwars 2 with asus g74sx-A1 and he is also experiencing fps drop at this game too,

You should check to make sure that the vents are clogged up with dust. I didn't think mine was until I opened up my system while upgrading my CPU and noticed a ton of dust built up.

I have no idea how to open the laptop to be honest :p but i'll give it a go and repost if it has had any effect, i believe it is the drivers as guildwars 2 is having fps drops with both Nvidia and AMD. I am currently running on the 7970M drivers for the Alienware M17xR4 as Dell dont update their 6990m drivers but i've still got the same issues.

I'm on a 560 in my M17x-R3, updasted to the latest Nvidia beta drivers, outside of massive world events with hundreds of players, it's problem free

Downloaded the new drivers but even with everything my FPS is around 20ish .. and drops below 20 at times (playing on best-appearance). Anyone else facing this issue ??? My Initial drivers that i downloaded from dell were giving me an average of 29 fps.

Okay forget what i mentioned... it seems as soon as i plug in my charger ... the FPS rises. MY BAD :(
