I just got my fourth Alienware computer. I have purchased:
    1 M17X-R2
    2 M17X-R3
    1 M11X-R1 (with fixed hinges)

My first M17X, the R2, had a speaker problem. They were crackling bad when I got it. I called them and they sent someone out to fix it with minimal hassle.

The others have been perfect, and are still running great to this day.

Long story short, I've been very happy with the service and products I have received from Alienware.

Had to post this, as we usually only see the complaints. For the people out there wondering if the company is good, yes. Most people that are happy don't post, so it looks skewed.

    Cheers,
    Niteskie

I too have posted similar phrases. I love Alienware as a whole. They have their issues, but AW has ALWAYS made good on their products-at least in my case. I have had 7 different machines in the past 2 years-bought m17xR1, replaced m17xR1, replaced m1x7R2, replaced m17xR3, bought another m17xR3, m18x replaced for XPS m1730 I bought, and replaced m18x.
Their support and warranty far exceed anything out there. Kudos to AW/Dell :D

Agreed. Alienware has good service overall. They replaced a bad GPU for me in 5 days once (compared to Asus taking 21 days). Now I have a GPU on backorder but they upgraded it so I am very happy.

I'm new to Alienware but the 2 I've had have been great thus far. No issues. The R3 with mini-displayport and hdmi out as well as hdmi input is by far one of the most versatile computers I've ever owned. The build quality is outstanding and it is a perfect companion to my Macbook Pro when I travel (using it as a 2nd display for my Mac).

    Cheers,

Though for me calibrating to work properly with ps3 and 360 took a bit of effort.

    But it's great otherwise :D

but yeah me too. I have had my alienware for almost a year. A friend of mine bought his a few weeks ago. I've had nothing but fun with it. The laptop is very mod friendly as you can see with my sig. Never had to contact dell support, but my warranty has been voided probably 18 different ways with what I've done to it lol.

My friend needed dell support for an order that came with the wrong specs. They sent a tech out to replace the parts. The tech was a bit inexperienced but overall got the job done. The laptops are solid - the support depends on the situation. The phone and depot support are usually excellent. The tech's usually are subpar to horrid. Keep in mind the techs are not Dell workers though. They are outsourced to 3rd part companies. Many of them have never seen an alienware machine before when they go to work on one.

Ive had mine 2 weeks on saturday and it has been great! By far the best computer i have used. It is super smooth, has lots of modification features like the keyboard and such, has optimal and conservative settings for battery life, has unreal specs, and runs every program i need daily all at one time. The graphics are great, even at 1600x900 res.

the only problem i have found is finding a backpack or case to show it off. walmart didnt have any backpacks that would hold a 17" and i dont want to spend 150 bucks on one to hold it. lol ebay is my next stop after i see how the bag i just purchased works out this weekend.

im super happy with mine compared to asus, hp, and toshibas i have used in the past.

I must agree, I bought this beast some months ago and it has been somewhat of a guilty pleasure.
But I haven't got a regret, it feels like owning a wild horse, you just have to tame it.

Best machine out there. I could not be happier with this Laptop.

I'll be aiming for an M18 R2 in the future...i.e if it ever comes out.

Problem free here and it's been 8 months. My first two computers were from HP (Desktop then Pavilion DV5 laptop) and were experiencing issues around this time and were in complete hell by the time its 2nd year rolled by. My machine still feels like I just unboxed it and I've pushed it to its limits every so often. I'm completely confident this machine will last me a few years. I was skeptical at first to spend a fortune on a laptop, but it was completely worth it. I'd buy again! Hopefully a m17x R6 or m18x r3-4 :)

I just bought my first alienware this christmas. The display was faulty (red pixels everywhere), and they sent me a new system.
Besides that, I couldn't be happier. Skryrim, bad company 2, left for dead, and team fortress 2 play amazingly right out of the box. I haven't updated any of the drivers yet. and blu-rays look fantastic.

    Hello,

My m17x R3 is my first Alienware and my first windows pc since about 2002 when I made the switch to mac. A bit more hassle then the macs for sure, and yet with the problems I had and still having honestly still I could not be happier.

Alienware support is the best support I have ever experienced. With no hassle they swapped the mobo and repasted everything and although that really did nothing, with one phone call back I am getting a new graphics card sometime this week.

All in all the comp I had was/is buggy but the service won me over. Coming from mac I never expected anything close to this level of customer support. Alienware im with you now lol

I received the M17xR3 in my sig last month. Although I have only had the machine for 30 days, out of the box it was flawless. I have had no problems to this point. So far so good!

Glad to know I'm not the only one :)
My M17x R3 has been PERFECT since the moment it arrived on my doorstep 6 months ago. Considering that it's running typically 24 hours a day for about 5 days every week (and I make it work pretty damn hard) that really is quite impressive.

The moment I took it out of the box I was impressed. I've had mine since August 3rd and have upgraded a couple parts on my own (mainly things that cost more if you get them added at the time of purchase). I love that I can bring a laptop to my buddy's house and play games in a good resolution and frame rate. I use to bring my entire desktop rig to his place for a weekend of gaming lol. No more are those days =)

Great to see all the people posting about the good experiences. Too often forums are just the bad stuff and the problems.

    Keep the praise coming!

I love my M17x R2. More than anything for the ability to upgrade it to hwere it is now (sig). The RGB is just something that prevented me from going to an M18x. Yea, it's that good.

The R3 is definitely a nice system. And I your right, having a portable powerhouse is awesome for LAN parties. I'm with Mkelliny Given the power my system possesses, I won't be upgrading anytime soon. It does everything superfast, and maxes most games. :D

I've had a couple of problems with my M17x r1, but I actually traded a desktop for and got a really good deal. I bought an extended warranty because I came out ahead on the trade and that has come in handy. I have had the motherboard and gpu replaced on seperate occasions and both times they had a tech at my door or a pre-paid next day air box within 48hrs (I know a next day air box has to cost $35+). And for being aa couple years old and three generations behind current tech. It will still out perform most of the $800 dollar laptops at walmart or bestbuy.
I am considering getting an R3 sometime in the near future if I find a good deal. But I have a hard time justifying getting rid of my beast of a R1.
