hi all,
i created a back up with alien reswawn when i first got the pc.
the hard drive crashed so i replaced with an ssd but couldnt use respawn said hard drive was not recognised. so i booted from usb and installed windows 10, everything went fine.
but the eject button and t-pad do not work after installing osd, & finally found that 3.6 command was ok for the alien fx. the wifi constantly dropped out but older driver seemed to fix that issue
nothing from the drivers page works using service tag, all say not compatible
hdmi in still works fine with ps4 but since hard drive failure and reinstall i have not audio from hdmi in over bluetooth headphones, but was all working fine before
is there a way at all to recover pc with the new hard drive and just the respawn discs ??
alienware dont weem to want to help with this, i mean a system like this not supplied with proper recovery media![]()

is there any way to pull the proper drivers from respawn discs or finally sort this pc its driving me daft now

Have you created an USB recovery with AlienRespawn?

It's strange. I have chaged my HDD without any issue. I think you can try to made a clean install of Windows 10, without using recovery dvd. Also try to insist with Dell, they have to help you with recovery.

(Alienware M17x R4 - circa 2012)
I got Alienware to convert my program over (Alienrespawn) to the pro/unlocked version for free by saying, if you are going to put your backup software and advise we use it, then I shouldn't be paying for it. If it had been Norton or Acronis, that would be different. After about 30 minutes and 3 different people they okayed it. You HAVE TO FIGHT THEM to get what should be included to start with. Just like you don't buy from their website you call them instead (but I heard since Mr. Dell took company private, they have become stingy and a little greedy with very little price adjustments, I know this isn't the company I bought my laptop from in 2012 - saw the warning signs but hoped Alienware would recover)
I tried it for example to do both a system recovery disk and a full backup of the initial install, both failed, one said media is not supported (in the screen - Please insert DVD+-R into your drive - I tried Fuji, Maxell, Memorex, TDK, Sony, Verbatim, Imation, heck, some cheap brand from Frys), the other said it couldn't verify the content please insert disk 1. So I uninstalled and never looked back.
I would suggest going with Acronis or some of the free software backup programs. I know this won't help you now of course. You also might want to see if it is a proprietary backup. I think Alienrespawn is actually rebranded, I want to say Roxio backup, but I can't remember (you probably can google it to find out).
For future reference, keep an eye on frys.com and newegg.com, as they sometimes put Acronis on sale for under $10. As I said you can get the free versions that talented programmers have created if you don't want to spend the money (and in some reviews - MaximumPC, PCWorld (before it went kaput, magazine wise, they had features missing or blocked in the retail software).
Heck if it wasn't the fear of being arrested for piracy, I would give out my Alien Respawn, as the serial number is no better than the premium program is at backups.
Now are you reinstalling the original OS that came with your laptop or doing an upgrade from what you had (sounds like from reading, you upgraded to 10. I was going to mention you could use the recovery disk if is the same OS. I can't provide links here but there are places that host these images as many people think it is a joke to have to pay between $10 and $30 for recovery discs, when the disc themselves only cost pennies (at the large quantity purchase price Dell/Alienware would get)
Also google for the drivers, as I am sure there are those out there who have modded them already, as you are certainly not alone. If it is intel, see if they have an updated bluetooth driver for their card, if applicable or check the name/maker of the bluetooth card. Also did you upgrade your graphics card since your original purchase, as they have been issues where the Intel takes over the HDMI, which would possible suggest Intel drivers issue. Don't bother will Dell support drivers, unless your model is less than maybe a year old, you usually won't find updated drivers from them. The only other option, which is the least desireable, see if Windows update has a driver for your bluetooth/HDMI combo issue.CaVaLiEr666 likes this. -
