Hi guys, I just ordered an R3 with the following specs:

    i7 2820
    6970 gpu
    1920x1080 screen
    8300 Ultimate N WiFi card

everything else stock (will buy hyper x ram from new egg)

I also bought a 128gb crucial c300 SSD for 150$ from a buddy who bought it for his new MBP and it did not work (had compatibility issues)

Now we all know the MBP and the C300 support SATA III

And so does the Alienware R3 - but the worries are definitely here as to whether the alienware will run into the same issues as the new MBP

    In short:
Do you guys think the r3 will properly support most SATA III SSDs with real SATA III Speeds?

Any other SSD suggestions for other shoppers looking for one for their new R3?

Bought one and it does not work? Let us all know! Thanks!

P.S As soon as I get it, Ill do a review, video review and full Benchmark

C300 should work just fine. I'm pretty sure there are people who have already tried that SSD on the R3. Upcoming SSDs to watch for: OCZ Vertex 3 and Intel 510 SSD.

You don't need to do anything. Slots 0 and 1 (the 2 drive slots) are SATA III ports. If you plug in a sataIII drive, it will run at up to it's rated speed.
r3's sata3 is native intel only, so I don't see why there would be any issues in properly running a sata3 drive.
