    I know theres alot of people upgrading their own alienware hardware like gpu cpu hhd etc. Anyways im doing the same with my cpu and hdd do you guys recommend to keep the stock cpu and hdd for warranty purposes?

    Uh, yes! Yes. And did I say yes?! I actually spoke with a rep/tech a few weeks ago and IF you are replacing the stock parts with parts you ordered from AW, you can get a tech to 'change' your system config showing the new parts you have and they will be covered under warranty. But they HAVE to be bought from Dell/AW.

    If you buy third party stuff (Ebay, Newegg, Shirleys CPU) it WILL NOT be covered under warranty. So if I do an expensive upgrade (CPU, GPU's-bout the only ones I would worry about), I would keep the original. Just in case.

    RAM, hard drives, optical drives are pretty cheap to replace so if my upgraded RAM or HDD/SSD dies, I'll fork oveer the $$$ and get another. No biggie there. I guess the SSD could be expensive, but I'll take the chance.

    If the CPU or GPU dies-$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. $600 or so for 6970/6990 and several hundred for a CPU. Not worth the risk, IMO.
