    Hey guys.

Anyone got an m17x with dual 260's? How do they perform to a 5870? Do they have instability issues?

    Thanks! :)

I have dual 260s and can tell you that COD MW2 and BCBF2 both play wonderfully. I am not into benchmarking or anything like that so I don't have any comparisons. The stupid WEI shows gaming graphics at 7.1 on my 260s but I really don't think that means much.

    Hi theres,

Yeh I own one of them. The 260's are pretty good however in raw performance against the 5870s they get chopped quite a bit. The 260's were released back in March 2009 or around then and the 5870s were released earlier beginning of this year. The 260s support directX 10 and the 5870s directX 11.

You won't be able to buy a new M17x with 260s now as the M17x R2s give you the option of equipping them with 5870s or a few other GPU options depending on which country your in.

Stability wise they are pretty good, just depends on the drivers you are using. There have been quite a lot of issues with both ATi and Nvidia so yeh you'll have to read up on them. There is heaps of information floating around here. Any other specific things you wanted to ask about the M17x or 260's?

    Notebookcheck: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Mobility-Radeon-HD-5870.23073.0.html

Notebookcheck: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 Crossfire

Yeh the WEI score shows mine at 7.2 for the 260's but those numbers don't really mean much.

    Cheers.

I have them, been working like charm for the past year. I have had unforgetable experience playing Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age, Assassin's Creed 2.. etc. My only wish is that the final release of FFXIV will support SLI! T_T

against the 5870s they are worlds apart, that being said, they are still capable, they are just on the low side of performance for the m17x

I can now get basically the same laptop, just an R2 and it comes with 2x 4870's, is this the better option do you think?

Ah trues. No worries then the 4870's will still be tops. Enjoy.
