Okay, so I've formatted my m17x R2 and I'm trying to install Windows 8. When it first reboots and starts loading devices, my screen goes blank. I tried attaching an external monitor, but that monitor goes blank aswell! After it stod running all night with blank screens I thought okay something must have gone wrong, so I restart it and I am prompted to restart installation cause Windows 8 install didn't complete and was interrupted. I've installed without problems on my lenovo computer. I've read that there might be issues with the intel graphics driver or something? I have the i7 920xm and AMD 7970m. Anyone got any ideas? I've tried installing many times now, this happens during loading devices every single time. I'm sure the installation is waiting for me to input stuff etc while the screen is blank....

You could try to install Windows 8 with the iGPU only, then put back the 7970m and install any drivers needed, not sure if it'll work but it may be worth the shot.

I installed windows 7 now with all drivers, will try upgrading to windows 8 instead. If it doesnt work I'll try installing with the iGPU alone.

Has anyone found a Windows 8 Free Fall Sensor driver that works on a M17X R2? It is the only device showing a ! next to it I believe.

You should be able to use the Windows 7 driver for it.

There is no iGPU for M17xR2.

You're right, I apologize for that misleading answer, must have mixed it up with an R3 for some reason.

I haven't had time to upgrade but will do so this weekend. I think upgrading from windows 7 (that already has some drivers in) might work while installing fresh gets a problem with gpu drivers... Will see this weekend :) I hope it works.

I forgot to update. It worked flawlessly when upgrading from Windows 7 cause the drivers were already installed on the disc. After the upgrade I just upgraded the gfx drivers and a few others to win 8 for better compatibility :)
