Hi! I had an unfortunate accident this weekend and my screen got broken from the accident. I have a big area of dead pixels and some weird lines. The screen seems to be constantly bouncing up and down like a TV with a bad signal. I was wondering how much a replacement cost be for Dell Canada(since I live in Ontario) and what would be the cheapest way to fix it(I'm in engineering university and don;t have enough money to spare) :( I really don;t know what to do, I have called the Dell for repair, but I hear that replacement cost can go up to $600 and I can't afford it..... Here are some pictures.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not too sure. Replacing the whole compartment seems easy, but my budget right now is around $150CAD. I have found https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/Dell/ALIENWARE%20M17X%20R4/
this website for the LCD screen, but I haven't been able to find the glass assembly. I really can;t afford $600 of repair cost and don;t have that much money left for this months...

Do not go for a repair with dell, it is too expensive.
Glass assembly is kind....hard to remove and it is glued to the bezel, at least in my R2

see this vid, not so hard but still...

Anyways, getting the Glass, and the LCD, will come up almost to the price of the whole screen assembly (without back cover witch you have undamaged)

And you will avoid the whole dis-assembly and troubles that it may cause....a true pain in the A@#

Wait a bit and get the whole thing....that is my advice, i don't have much time now because i am going to a party just now, but i can do more research on that later...

Thank you so much. I am also conduncting research on my own as well, and it seems much cheaper to buy the ebay part or maybe go to another repair company. Are there any chance of getting this compartment for maybe cheaper price? I have been trying to search for it, but no luck yet. Thank you so much. :)

That could be a good option. Why don't you look online for the specific part?
