the M17x r1 has many issues, i suggest staying away from it even though its an awesome price. if it sounds to good to be true normally it is.

are you in the US? if you are check out the outlets.

Do as inap suggested and go for an R2. The R1 had many issues, and the P8700 with the 260 is just about as slow as you can get.

I guess you could get it (if you dare), and upgrade it later to a pair of 4870s and a Core2Quad. You can't go wrong for $700, you just need to be sure that you're actually going to receive the machine.

if you look at the copy right 2011, it looks fake. the site says it accepts paypal, but I don't think so, probably tells you to send money as a friend through paypal. if you have a paypal account, try checking out through paypal. I wouldn't buy from a site that just started running in 2011. it's only been 19 days this year.

the thumbnail looks like AlienWare's Assembly unit. All the laptops there seem to be an alienware.

Don't do it! You are just wasting $700. Save the money and get something better later.

Yeah there are a million other ways you could throw away $700. You may not be able to get an AW but there are a lot of other very good performing laptops out there for around $700 that actually exist.

Personally I think it is a bit pricey for only having an i3 and the graphics only having 512mb.

Try and find one that has at least an i5 and good graphics card or i7 and decent graphics card around that price range then you can update either the cpu or graphics later (depending on what you get)

Yeah listen to the pros in here man - $700 isn't exactly chump change and you should be happy with whatever you buy. Don't settle just because you're in a hurry...

Just remember that you also need the larger PSU. If your system comes with only 1 GPU, you will need the larger PSU + XFire Cable and of course 2nd GPU.

As always, if a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

But if you'd like to reinvest that $700 more wisely, I'm looking at a r3 for myself in a month or so. :D

If someone says they don't accept Paypal (regardless of the reason) and will only accept wire transfer or western union then it's 100% always a scam. It is impossible to get your money back through these methods. Don't even trust websites that ask for credit card numbers, since 9 times out of 10 they are also scams.

It's 2011, there's absolutely no reason any merchant doesn't accept Paypal.
