hi, another one of my price questions. Just bought a alienware m17x r2 for a total of 2156 at dell outlet. the specs are:

    940xm
    5870 crossfire
    8gb ram
    WUXGA RGB LED screen
    a really crappy hdd i think its a 320gb
    dvdrw

my question is, is this a good price for the specs? I can cancel it before it ships out which is probably tomorrow.

I doubt it will ship out on a saturday but that seems about on par for pricing from what ive been looking at. You could probably haggle a better price out of a sales rep though over phone

That price is awesome. I suggest getting an extended warranty for it too.

I actually did speak to a dell sales rep, except when I told him what I wanted, he gave me something entirely different. I asked for 940xm with 5870 crossfire, he gave me first a 920 with 4870, then a 840 with 285 sli and then a 740 with a single 5870 so eventually i just gave up and decided to try my luck with outlet instead of dealing with him.

by the way, do you guys haggle with dell and how successful? I thought the big companies only haggle with large corporate customers.

Thats a very good deal. Dell does haggle but it depends on the rep and what promotions they have available at that time. Personally I would prefer they had a flat lower price for all consumers to take advantage of at the same time. Or better yet they have rotating coupons that correspond to their price/inventory fluctuations. Having to call and haggle is something a lot of customers find off putting.
