My laptop is just 2 months old. It has nvidia GeForce GTX 675 M 2gb graphics card, there is no intel card and mine is a 3d version. Crysis 3,fifa 13 lag when charger isn't plugged in. When I plug in the charger all games run perfectly. I tried factory reset, updated bios, graphics driver but nothing helped. Running laptop on high performance didn't help either. Please help me guys.

Most high performance gaming laptops do not run at full speed when running on battery power. They automatically reduce the CPU and / or GPU speed to reduce power consumption so the battery doesn't explode or catch on fire.

You can try and find some ways around this but you risk permanently damaging your battery, your laptop or both. If you are feeling lucky, try forcing your CPU speed by using ThrottleStop.

yes this is expected behavior, as you power plans define how your gpu and cpu work when on battery. if you want to get the full juice look into your power plan settings in win7/8 and alter them. high performance battery plans also have certain limitations set to reduce juice to cpu and gpu when on battery.

But i have noticed that a large number of gamers usually game with the charger plugged in. hope that helps.

This exactly. You really can blow your battery trying to game at full speed, not to mention that you'd get 10-15 min of battery life MAX.

I'm not talking about gaming at ultra graphics.... Crysis 3 lags even at medium graphics.my friend has Alienware m18x and his laptop gives same performance with and without charger games like fifa 13 aren't supposed to lag on Alienware. On my old laptop hpdv6 7010tx there was no lag when charger was not plugged in. Please tell me there's a way to fix this.

Perhaps you can force your GPU to run at its rated speed by using MSI Afterburner or Nvidia Inspector. Have you tried using ThrottleStop yet? An Asus G750 owner contacted me recently and he was able to get his CPU running over 4 times faster when on battery power. His new Asus laptop has a feature that was locking his CPU to a woeful 800 MHz when on battery power but it was easy to fix that with ThrottleStop. Manufacturers use a variety of throttling methods.

Now that we know that you don't mind toasting your battery, we can try and help you to go faster. Run ThrottleStop and GPU-Z with the log file options selected while gaming so you can see whether it is the CPU or GPU that are being throttled when on battery power. Here's some background info to keep in mind. :)

I used nvidia inspector.. Found that current clock was at 620mhz on charger and 74mhz on battery. My friend has an Alienware m18x and his clock speed is not affected by unplugging charger. Why is it happening in mine? I saw that on battery mine runs on performance level 1 and 3 on charger .I Am unable to overclock as the gpu speed slider is greyed out.

Yes, this is all to protect the battery, if his clock speeds don't actually change and he tries gaming it's likely his battery will overheat and then shut down and have its life span reduced.

If you press fn+f7 and reboot it will run on your gtx675 or 660m but soon as you unplug it will ask you to plug in or reboot and use optimus just press x in top right hand corner. It should then play okay but your battery won't last to long but it won't switch to HD4000. Unless you reboot you're system. Hope this helps

660m is only a 75 watt card so that may have something to do with it. Plus the M18x has a larger battery. Gaming laptops aren't meant to run on battery. ;)
