I have a m17x r3 3d but my motherboard died so I thought to upgrade the motherboard to m17x r4 and CPU to 3rd gen.
I have bought both the items ,
Just before installing them what should I do ?
The motherboard that I bought is from non 3d laptop, also I found out 3d won't work but 120hz would work .
So once I get the parts should I just install them and power up?
The Gpu that I had was gtx 580m , will there be any conflicts between r4 and gtx 580m due to no UEFI ?
Some say since this is 3d any Gpu would work.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks

R4 should be able to get 3D with 580 or 680.

Some say because mine is from r3 it has a samsung LCD but r4 with 3d has a lg LCD so there might be 3d certification missing on r4 hence it won't work but 120hz would .

Ah didn't realize you did a mobo swap.

My R4 has a samsung as well,
MONITOR\SEC5044. I would expect 3D with the 680m (max) would work just fine. The 3D authentication appears to be coded to only accept official GPU's. Since you will be running the R4 bios all should be good.
As the R4 supported UEFI boot you could probably use a 9xx card, but of course 3D is off the menu... -
Thanks for clearing that out for me .
