    Hi there,

I'm new to the forums, I recently bought a Alienware M17X-R2 to be my new gaming system.

    Here are the specs:

    Processor: Intel Core i7 CPU Q 820
    Memory: 4 GB 1333 DDR 3 RAm
Graphics: Dual ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4870 in CrossfireX.
    Graphic Memory: 2810 MB Available
Hard DIsk: 500 GB (7200 RPM) (256GB free)
    DirectX Version: 10.1
    Wifi: Intel Ultimate Wifi

Anyway I shouldn't have a problem running the game at all (Left 4 dead 2), and I really don't, I run the game on maximum settings and it seems fine.

Here's the problem, I do notice a slight problem that is irratating. Whenever I start a new game after going through the main menu or whenever I beat a level (after going through the kill count screen), the game slows down and lags. And I basically fix it by minimizing the game to the tray and pulling it up again, basically this fixes the slowed down game. I was wondering if anyone knows what is going on? It runs perfectly after I minimize it and maximize it again, but than it gets annoying after a while.

From what I have read of others, when going into window'd mode(switching out of full screen), you don't utilize the crossfire. Maybe when you minimize and then go full screen again you stop and restart crossfire. Just a opinion. I'm sure there will be someone who knows more then I who could help you but I believe thats whats going on.

i used to have this problem on my xps gen 1 with a 256 mb ati card. I would guess it's an ati quirk.

Same thing here....Crysis runs awesome in windowed mode, but when going to fullscreen it does the same thing with the addition of some tearing. I checked Gpu-z as well as Hwinfo & it appears that Crossfire is functioning during each mode. I have been unsuccessful installing ANY driver other than the Dell driver. (Currently on A05 Bios)

It's a common problem with ATI and L4D2.

If you are using windows 7 than increase your ram as that should improve upload times of games. Also you could try switching to SSD or defrag your hard drive.
