Alright so I recently received my Alienware M17x and was planning on installing an SSD as the main OS drive. I backed up the factory settings to a USB and shut down the computer. After starting it up I pressed F2 but it didnt load into the BIOS, it just loaded up windows 8. I have also tried going into the general settings, then advanced and tried loading up the UEFI Firmware settings. It just booted back up to the Windows 8 start screen. I have no idea if I am doing something wrong or my computer just won't boot into the BIOS. I am running windows 8 and switched back to Intel HD Graphics instead of my Radeon 7970m. My BIOS version is A09. Should I update it to A10?

    Regards,
    Mike

You gotta be pretty fast to load into bios for windows 8, you probably only have about 1 second to press F2. WHen you switch on the computer as the screen is black is the best time to get into bios, just keep tapping quickly or hold F2. Its basically when the alienware logo appears and before that loading bar then you need to press to get into BIOS.

Btw you can upgrade to A10 if you want, it fixes some issues, but main thing I noticed was post is slightly faster, not by much but there is a slight difference. Just bear in mind that updating the BIOS might change some of its settings.
