    Hey guys,

So after long talks with Alienware support about my recurring hinge problems they have decided to refund my money for my laptop on the agreement that I purchase another Alienware product from them first. This is fine (I really wish they could just use the credit from the first machine's cost though...) but I'm on the fringe now between a m14x or a m17x. What do you guys recommend for a budget around 1900? Mostly I would love for it to be able to play Battlefield 3 well

If you are gaming, the m17x all the way.

m14x has the gt 555 only which isn't enough for serious gaming imo...plus you have no 1080p screen option in the m14x

    Call up, haggle on a M17x R3 with a 580m or 6990m. You'll be rockin' BF3 in no time.

Get the m17x R3 I had the m14x the gt555 is the downside and the screen. I'am much happier with the m17 R3 ;)

With a $1900 budget you should be able to get an M17 with 2670, 580m, and 1080p at minimum. I got my system 25% off and with a 2720, 6990, 1080p and 4 years complete care the total was $1930.

So you should get somewhere between those two options. However the Alienware reps don't access to 25% off as that is a rare sale price so I would figure closer to 10% off current retail prices.

I vote m17xr3 also. The m14 gpu is under powered, runs boiling hot, and the screen is dim. Don't get me wrong its a nice system but for gaming the m17x is much better. m14x only if you plan on carrying it around every day somewhere and what to comprimise on perf. +1 on the 580m or 6990m as a must.

Toledano - what's the 25%? Do you mean those coupons that sold out or do you have something else?

Definitely m17x r3. With a minimum of the 6970m but would push hard for the 6990m. You get so much more with the m17x with little downfall (size being the only one).
