If I plug in my M17x R2 power supply and attach my ESD wristband to the metal tip that's supposed to go into my computer, am I grounding myself

I just want to know how to ground myself properly with my wrist strap. Everyone I ask on other forums tells me to connect to an AC ground. I'm not sure I know what an example of an AC ground would be.

Okay lol I'll just attach it to an unpainted part of the case and call it a day. Purely out of being exceedingly cautious >.<

I usually touch some copper pipes - touch some proper metal stuff first. Take off any jumpers you have as well, like a woolen jumper and stuff if you do xD

Hmm...If I attach the crocodile clip at the end of the wristband to the metal chandelier currently residing over my working space, am I grounded? I just don't want to take a chance. Those 6990s aren't cheap lol

Alright sweet. I'll just grab a little piece of unpainted metal and attach my wriststrap to it while I'm working. Problem solved. I find it shocking that it's such a simple concept  YEEAAAHHHHH!!!! - Yeah Button

To ground yourself you have to attach the crocodile to an outlet's ground.

What I always do is powerdrain the system I'm working on and touch the ground of a wall socket, never had a problem.

    lol.

Dont bother with wrist straps. I open up servers, desktops and laptops all the time at work and have never used one.
