So every time I shut the M17x off, turn it over or pack it into my bag, then turn it on, it won't boot. All it does is run all fans on high and my keyboard lights up. Holding down the power button does nothing and just turns the keyboard off with the fans still running. It's really strange because it only happens when I turn the computer over or move it. All I have to do is to unplug the battery and it's fixed until the next time I move it.

If I shut it off and leave it on my table, it doesn't have that problem upon next boot up.

Normally the fans start, then the Blu Ray starts, and then my mouse starts, then I see the Alienhead load screen.

I'm starting to suspect it's the stupid accelerometer. Any thoughts on this?

EDIT: Dang, I'm sorry I just remembered I should have put this in the technical problems thread.

So now I don't know what it is. It seems to happen after I turn off the computer and leave it unplugged for a couple of minutes. This is so odd...and the fix is to remove the battery and plug it back in.

System boots fine with a restart, shut off (but plugged in), but not shut off (then unplugged).

    Already tried:

    Power drain
Power drain + unplugged CMOS battey

    Fix so far:

Remove battery and plug back in, no need for power drain

I'm sensing maybe the video drivers are to blame since this problem also occurs when I BSOD/lock up due to a bad GPU OC. I'm also running the 5% OC in BIOS but my RAM is rated at 1600MHz so I doubt that's it. Back to more testing...

I was having a similar issue (would always crash/lockup) when I typed in my password to log into windows - but then a force shutdown-reboot and I would go into windows just fine.

I reinstalled windows and that problem is gone.

(So, I would suggest backing up your files and just starting with a new install and see if you still get the same issue)

    Good luck

Not exactly a similar issue lol but thanks for the suggestion. A full OS reinstall would be my last resort. Honestly doesn't bug me much, all I have to do is pop the battery out 1/4 of the way and I'm good to go.
