I've got an M17x 1 with the seagate 500 gig single drive. It's kind of annoying because the hard drive is constantly making noise. It doesn't have any problems or errors at all and I applied the firmware update about 6 months ago. Does anyone know how I can quiet this damn thing down?

There are ways to quiet a 'thrashing' drive, just Google it. Don't know how much it will help. You could get an SSD. They're completely silent for the most part. Stop thrashing hard drive - Google Search.

Welcome to my club LOL
Look, when i got my first machine i got the exact same problem, this make a sound when this is writing, like a clicking right ?, i did call dell about this and the guy try to find a update to fix it, but you cant fix hardware problem on a disk that easy way; well, its really annoying and i used a software called "Disk Monitor Free", install it (but uninstall it after use, cause this left a service which start to cause stuttering sound during games or so, this is cause the service is monitoring the disk everymoment, that happen to me, maybe dont happen to you) and you will see, i think, the life time of your disk is 50%, and chek the errors to see, if you got my same disk you will see that, my disk was 50% life time and some errors, i call them and i got a toshiba disk instead, and now, in my machine replacement, i ask in BOLD, no seagate disk, and they sent me one, of course is not clicking but the life time is the same
