I just got my m17x R2 a couple of weeks ago. I've had few to no problems with it. I haven't updated any drivers (it came with all the newest stock drivers as is, and I haven't felt like dealing with ATI drivers yet).

However, a few days ago it started having an annoying problem. Every time I cold boot it for the first time, the lights on the keyboard etc will come on, and so will the fans. However, the screen will never come on nor will the computer continue the boot process in any way.

This process will keep happening no matter how many times I try to shut it off with the power button. The only way I can get the computer to boot is if I remove the battery and do the drain process by holding down the power button etc. EVERY TIME I COLD BOOT THE COMPUTER.

I'm using the A06 bios, everything else is in my sig. I'm using all stock drivers that are current aside from A07 and the beta video drivers. I haven't installed anything other than my video games and protection software. I haven't installed any programs since several days before this issue started.

The only other major issue I had was that the laptop wouldn't shut down due to the Task Host Window process, for which I had to install the M$ hotfix for. This was at least 3-4 days prior to this new issue.

EDIT: I believe this is only happening when the laptop is plugged into AC power (however after trying to boot the laptop on AC power it will still not boot on battery because it won't shut off without removing the battery entirely). I would double check, but that annoying battery warning on boot would wake people up atm.

NVM it happens both on AC and battery.

Still trying to figure this issue out. I can't figure out whether or not it's a hardware issue, bios issue, or what as absolutely no error ever comes up and when the computer does boot properly after removing and replacing the battery it acts as if nothing ever happened.

Go into your bios and select "load bios defaults" and then reboot.

Still doing it after resetting bios settings. In fact, it may be worse. Its doing it three or four times in a row now, although it no longer seems to depend on removing the battery. Still having to turn it off and back on almost 3/4 of all boots.
