Im thinking of buying another monitor for my m17x-r2 and kinda use it as a desktop that is easly portable, but when im at home i want a bigger screen and a regular keyboard.

First is this possible? Since when i hook it up to my tv its hard for it to find the right resolution etc so everything dosent fit on the screen.

I have the 1440x900 LCD screen on my rig. it would be awesome if i could use a LED 22 or 24 inch screen with 1080p but i guessing that wont work since its native resolution is 900p.

Well i just want a bigger screen for when i am at home any information would be helpful.

    Thanks in advance
    Gramse

    Hi theres,

Yeh that should be fine to use an external monitor.
The reason you are limited to 900p on your current LCD for the notebook is because that is its native and max resolution.
So if you wanted to use a larger resolution external monitor all you would have to do is hit Windows button and P to bring up the external monitor options then either select extend or to run on projecter only mode. If you just want to run it off the external monitor then you can select projecter only mode and close your notebooks screen. Using a HDMI cable can also port the sound over if you are using a TV setup or external sound system.

Also if the screen doesn't fill the entire area on the external monitor all you have to do is go into the screen options and select scaling options and move the slider up until it fills the entire screen area. Setting it to higher resolutions on the external monitor won't be a problem.

Not to sure on what specs you have for your notebook however I'm very confident since its an R2 that it will run fine.

    Cheers.

    My specs are:

    i7 620m
    6gb ram
    ATI Radeon HD5870

so i could use like a 24 inch 1080p external monitor with my current right then?

Nope you don't have to close the lid. You can have it wide open if you prefer. Either way will work fine.
    Enjoy your new setup.

    Cheers.

yes. resolutions on external monitors are not limited by your laptop's display. So you could have a 1920x1080, or even 2560x1600 external display.

I tried it on my 45 inch LG LCD tv with a hdmi cable and it worked fine until i entered WoW. I play it on max on my comp with no lagg but when i tried it on the 45 inch i could barely move i was in dalaran though. Its supposed to be that way right the bigger screen the more it takes on your system or should it also be lagg free? and if not will it be lagg free when i play on the 24 inch monitor?

Sounds like setting issues with CCC. You might want to make sure you are running it at 1920 x1080x60Hz and with overscan to 0
