    Hello there.

Since i fixed the display crash issue (a black and white striped crash, after playing games for 2 or more hours with GPU maximum performance), i am so much relieved, 1 month of everyday use, half-day non-stop gaming, almost anything i did to my rig, no problems encountered at all... until another issue shows up. :(

Sept. 21, 2011. I started to open my M17x-R3 at school, did some research over the internet for 1 hour, and then i played a game... after an hour, my rig's display started to go black and then i heard an unusual noise (sounds like a running chainsaw, but not so loud.)... it just that. I have the latest drivers of my ATI Radeon HD 6870M and Alienware OSD. Please help me fix this issue.
I will try make it appear again and see if it still happens.

The only things moving in there that could cause such a noise are the fans and the HD, so I'd start from there, chances are your laptop took a hit or something during you carrying it around and some cable moved in one of the fans' way, causing the chainsawlike sound you've heard.
If you don't feel at ease with opening your laptop then call support, chances are they'll ask you to do it anyways.

Thanks man. :) Yeah i think so too. This happened before but it's a very long time ago. I can't just open my rig, i can't tinker it by myself i don't have any experience with technical troubleshooting yet.

Someone told me before that this is because of the overclocking of GPU or reaching a very hot temperature pushing the GPU too much. I think it's that issue too, because i started to set my GPU to maximum performance not too long ago... just last week.
