Spent a week trying to get dell to send me a new keyboard, they wouldnt do it so they sent a tech guy out to replace it. I just got home from work and he was out earlier and now instead of just 1 key not working, none of them work. You would think he would of atleast turned the laptop on to test it.

Did he connect the cable correctly? But wow, I can't believe he didn't even turn the laptop on to try it.

I took it apart, first mistake I made. Took me a while to figure out how the two cables ( which he did not plug in ) worked. Second mistake I made was not paying attention to the cat sitting next to the first two screws I had to remove. Good thing about all this is that the keyboard now works. Bad thing is, Im missing a screw and now my media bar keeps popping up on the right side.....not sure If I did that or what, looks like they used a dot sized spec of sticky stuff to hold it down because when I press it down it stays down for a second or 2 and you can tell its sticky. :[ Can not win for losing.

That sucks. Yeah I threw my cat in the washroom, she's pretty nosey and will walk over everything lol. You can try calling Dell and say there's a missing screw, they may send it to you. Or you could try FrozenCPU. Not sure the dimensions of the screw though.

I "borrowed" one from my sisters unusable laptop, not sure if it was too long or not but it went in all the way so I hope theres nothing under it. Now If I can figure out why my media bar is popping off ill be good to go.

Sounds like your media bar is as shoddy as my replacement and similar to alot of others' here on NBR. It's quite the design flaw, imo. A dot of superglue is supposed to hold it down, if you're brave enough. Otherwise, a replacement is what you should be getting.

Glue does not fix this, only the metal edge, as the raised bar area will likely made direct contact with the glass display when the notebook lid is closed.
