about 1 year ago i bought a 7970m card from eurocom that I have running on my m17xr2. I ma thinking about purchasing a second one to run in xfire mode. From what i have heard some cards are not compatible with others (like clevos with dells). Is there an easy way to tell which card is on my machine?
    From my original order invoice it says, item number vg-0747m2-7970 - dell alienware hd7970m 2gb ddr5; mx3.0b ; p/n 0747m2

Also, eurocom does not carry this card anymore, any suggestions on the bast place to order an additional compatible one to run xfire? I would not find any for sale on the marketplace.

    Thanks in advance

It's a Dell card. Upgrade monkey on eBay has the Dell cards. Be prepared to do the 330w psu mod from tech inferior. Well worth it though. Especially if you have a 920xm CPU in there.

    Cheers

Thanks for the info. I already bought a modded psu from someone on ebay, since i am having shutdowns when playing titanfall. Seems anytime my card reaches 86 degrees, it shuts down. I am wondering if xfire would help this situation, or if its of no consequence. 86 is nt supposed to cause a shutdown, but i also remember (maybe wrongly) that the 7970m on the 17xr2 would shut down at low temps. Maybe i need to do a repasting :(
Also, if anyone has any info on this, my card is at bios 015.021.000, but i heard there is another one (015.022.000). Would this bios help my shutdowns?

Don't know about the vbois as I'm running dual clevo cards. What does your card idle at? Might need to repaste. My cards get to the high 70s in bf4. Doesn't sound like a psu issue. Does the light on your psu go out when you get your shut down?

Ok, i went ahead and did a repasting, blow air can , etc thing on it. Was able to play 2 games back to back of titanfall (same settings.) and according to hwinfo, i was 13 degrees under what i used to have (top was like 73, versus 86 before). Will see how that goes.
