It's really frustrating when you want a 3D top of the line laptop and have to go elsewhere because Dell can't keep up with technology

AFAIK new GPUs will be made available this June. 560m is surely coming. I hope to see 485ms as well, at least for M17x.

I dont think the 485m will come, but the 5x0m might, apart from the 560m there is a chance for the 580m(or 570m) as well.

Neither 570m nor 580m have been announced (correct me if I am wrong), and it doesn't look like anything else can be expected of the 5xx line, and AFAIK, Nvidia already started work on their 6xx 28nm line.

If AW/Nvidia want to score some serious rep, they should reach out to customers who have been for a while now asking for 485m on M17xs w/ N3DV. The card is there. R3s on Sandy Bridge and 3D kits are there as well. They just need to be finally put together. The moment is right.

I want to be able to choose what card drives my 3D. If alienware gives us the choice between nvidia active tech and ati passive tech, they can reach to far more people. Heck just staying with nvidia will do as long as they offer more GPU options!

The 485M works in the machine, but NVIDIA is forcing the driver to disallow it to be put into 3D mode.

They have not been announced but when the 560m was launched they mentioned that the successor to 485m will be launched in the 2nd half of 2011, which is right about next month. So since m17x is getting newer GPU options next month and NVIDIA is launching a successor to the 485m(probably 570m or 580m) then there is a good chance that the new card might be an option as well.
