I have been browsing the web for many weeks and have not found any place which sells the gtx 680m for the alienware m17x r4 other than ebay. Thanks in advance!

Well, whats the problem with ebay, its the only place you can get it probably, or on eurocom.com but they also sell them on ebay, and on ebay u can get discount, and avoid paying taxes, so its win win.

Dell's GTX680m only has 2G VRAM, the ones on the eBay have 4G.

Anyone knows why Dell chose 2G instead of 4G? My understanding is the extra 2G cost increase would be like less than USD$30.
But Dell can definitely sell it for much more.

Because 2G is cheaper than 4G. $30 for a single part is quite a bit of difference when you are dealing with the volume Dell does.

RJTech sell them but not sure about compatibility since they only mention Clevo.

I would definitly buy an clevo card, as they dont suffer from the kind of throtteling the dell one does, the clevo card is a beast overclocker.

I have an Alienware m17x r4, does the clevo card work exactly the sameas the Dell card? No modded driver needed? Just plug in and download driver from Nvidia website and it just works?

I second that question (been asking for weeks with no answer). OP, I was recommended this place to get a Clevo 680m card: HIDevolution.com - Specializing in customized computers, electronics, and mobile devices for gamers and professionals
You will have to email them to get the transaction going, but they quoted $750. No response back on if they include the x-bracket and screws with it...but even if they don't, that's only $30 more to get those off..eBay...
