Hello everyone,
I'm planning to order an Alienware m17x and I'm just trying to do a little research over what video card I prefer to pick. Now the Radeon 7970 is way better performance wise than the gtx675. The 680 isn't in my price range and isn't that much more impressive FPS wise, when I look at the values from notebookcheck.net.
Its a mystery to me why the 7970 is 50$ cheaper than the 675 (physx and 3d advantages with the nvidia?). Of the few threads that I've browsed, most people seem to be wary of Radeon's driver support for there cards. I couldn't find anything specific on the actual 7970 card, just generic AMD ones.
I heard the crossfire setup is the one that has the most problems with drivers, but how is the single 7970? Has anyone ran into any problems with the drivers for this card that took a while to solve?

7970 has a more than 80% advantage over 675 which is nothing more than a renamed 580, physx can't do anything with that. Though 7970s do have some troubles in some people's case, an Nvidia's card won't buy you a gurantee to keep you free of those issues.
Anyone run into driver issues with the Radeon 7970?
