Tried using xsplit but i can't seem to get a good quality stream. I checked my stream on my other computer and the quality was horrendous.

Can you walk me through the whole process? How did you set up your stream? I have 20mbps upload speed.

hmm i reinstalled the laptop in the meantime i'll have to dl it again,

free streamin services do limit the quality of your stream afaik tho.
i'll dl it in a bit once im done with some benchmarks n set it up n help ya out.

    basicly in the channel properties.

    preset : xplit default
quality 6 and bitrate on 1000
    default stage resolution

    audio at 44.1khz 16bit stereo
    bitrate 128000

however i think its better to put the max bitrate and buffer to 2000 if your working with full hd footage maybe play with the quality aswell.

XMTV - Broadcasting LIVE on Justin.tv

    quick recorded stream there

there is a 5-10 sec delay if im correct
when there is a fair bit of camera movement u will see some pixelation happenin. wich is mostly caused i think by the low bitrate setting i had it at.
The higher the bitrate the better the quality basicly, stage resolution is basicly whatever u selected to stream it will use that resolution although u can change that to 720p

do u have a recorded stream to check the quality of yours ? maybe that helps with fixin aswell :)

I use dyyno universal broadcaster. It is worth the money. Twitch TV if you want to see the quality. I have no performance hit with 1Mbps up cable.

    60 fps

although i reckon 30fps will do aswell

stage res means it will just use whatever u have running.

basicly just select your main screen as source and it will use that resolution to broadcast

i basicly have the same laptop as yours just 8gb of ram instead of your 12gb.

LOL. i think i solved it now. I just set the resolution to 1920x1080 in "view>resolution" and everything is clear now on the stream.

allright lol weird as afaik that should only affect the view window not the actual stream.

I've found this article awesome ;) Been trying to educate my dumb on how to do this. I think I actually can create a half decent looking stream on my 1mbps upload speed connection now. I'll be playing around with settings a bit but found the same thing as qohleet where ya gotta set the View resolution for the channel to look right (using xplit on twitch.tv.

    +rep

After playing around a bit a find i can stream movies quite nicely but if I try to stream an FPS it doesn't turn out so well at the chosen resolution, it seems at least. It stutters and pauses alot on my stream. Guessing my upload may be a factor here or there are a few more things I can maybe play with.

ah i got the whole stage resolution thing, whatever res u set the viewer is what your broadcast resolution is.

what fps are u trying to stream ?
tried cod4 but i seem to get random slowness here n there on that for no reason, cod and streamin software dont realy want to play nice together.

games that do borderless windowed mode seem to work best with streaming, other games tend to have issues.

4mb upload atleast is recommended tho for hd streaming.

easiest way to get decent streaming off fps is just a hd capture card n loop it trough that i reckon.

Yeah, I kinda figured my upload is lacking. 1mbps prolly isn't quite enough for a really nice gameplay stream. I tried a few different settings when playing some medal of honor as a test and it was really poor too watch on the stream (tried 25, 30, and 60 fps). Unforunately I don't think I can get any better upload speeds at this time.

I also did a Starcraft stream test using 720p equiv. resolution and that was a bit too laggy for my preferences as well. It's gotta be the upload speed.

1mb upload isnt enough to do 720 prolly low res will work but 1mb isnt enough to play online and broadcast

I tried streaming again.. I had to turn down my graphic setting to high just to get 60fps on sc2. but though am getting 60 fps, the game was not that smooth compared to when am not streaming.. I have 20mbps upload speed. I don't know what's wrong

streaming is sorta like frapsing aswell,

it also uses some cpu power and writes about on the hdd causin a lil slowdown.

u got an extra screen hooked up to the laptop ?, just minimize xsplit when ur gaming n stuff.
