Anyone tried the FF14 Beta? (crash in ffivboot.exe). Same thing happens with Benchmark.

Hey, I'm running a m17x R2:
620m
5870 CF

Getting the crash in the title when starting the client. Can't even download it.

Anyone using a m17x and able to play, or run the benchmark? If so had you Oced your cards, what are your specs, is it all stock?

Want to try to figure this out. I've updated DirectX, messed with services, shut off firewalls.

I haven't done the windows updates yet, but I may try that tonight. Would be nice if someone is actually working on an M17x.

 

which drivers? afaik, 10.5s are not compatible with the game and you must use the workaround with 10.6 drivers or higher to play and use the benchmark. 10.5s are the stock Dell drivers, if you are willing to sacrifice some functionality the newer drivers should correct the problem.

 

Yeah, still the 10.5.

They are releasing new betas next week for the drivers it looks like. I will see if that fixes it.

No big deal, i will use my desktop for the beta until then. I was wondering if it was something like this.

I don't want to mess with the drivers right now with a new beta release so close that is 'official'.

FFXIV is not running on any prior driver release < 10.6.

Get something new, the Benchmark gives ariound 2000-2200 points depending on which driver release you use, and no, crossfire is not applicated.

 

just curiuos but did u have an oc on anything? i ordered my m17x a few days ago so i haven't got to play with it but am more so curious to know how the laptop will handle ff14 because its one of the main reasons i bought it for any more information would would be appreciated

 

I cannot say for sure yet, but the Beta i played was playable on highest resolution with the settings you could adjust.

Also i don't think you have to worry about it, i was running the Beta without CrossFire and got like 30-60fps, and medium details. So with the initial release of the game, it will hopefully play the game just smooth with CrossFire Support and high settings, i'm very confident.

Also i bought this laptop more or less only because of FFXIV just like you i guess. Cheers

Not sure yet, i was thinking of playing on ultimecia, but it looks like that most geeks are gonna play on Kefka, and create a well known community. Still not sure if the same servers will be used as in Beta, which were 10 servers, all named after the Final Bosses of FF1-10 i guess

 

we *really* need to decide which server NBR is going to swoop down on.

I have participated in the beta as well... it would rock to get the alienware community on the same server. I also heard 'Kefka' was going to be the place to be.
