I just went to take a look at the R4 specs and build one to see the price as I purchased mine in early Jan. Well there is one very interesting addition. When I selected the 3D screen a pop up window came up with a 'configuration error' telling me I needed to select a '3D compatible back cover'???. It was linked but did not work. The next selection was colour and there were two extra colour options for 3d compatible.

Looks like there has been a case mod (and they can still use up the stock of old ones on machines less 'stressed') .

I remember the tech on the conference call thread ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...x-580m-78c-throttling-see-post-191-later.html) complaining about the very small vent on the underside so I'm REALLY keen to see what they have done.

If you have ordered one of these please post a pic of the underside when you get it :)

    I'm waiting on my R3 replacement. I hope I get an R4 with a minor upgrade. :)

I think where were referring to the LCD back cover. There could be a slight difference between 3D and non-3D displays in terms of thickness maybe. We may see some really thin lids for once. I suspect that 3D users will have the same R3 LCD cover but the non-3D users will have a much thinner one. Just speculating.

I will be getting a 3D R4 once the GTX 680m is out.

That fits what it says and would be cool (if expensive for Dell to run multiple prod lines). it just surprised me as it's never been a user option before so now I'm curious...

Maybe just wishful thinking on my part, we know cooling could be improved somewhat, somehow.

Cool on the update!!! :) I look forward to some interesting comments when you get it.

I'm just hoping I can afford to upgrade mine - if the 680 really does come up to the hype and speculation.

Fingers crossed, it is looking like a crap shoot right now so it's not beyond possibility.
