Anyone with 920/940XM CPU played FIFA 11?

I think by changing the gpu driver can do its part in these windows index scores.. My original score is 7.2 in gpu. Ive oc it just a tad to 800/1050/1.08v.
Ive seen 7.4 with higher clocks but even with lower also without cf.. So that leeds me to different drivers different scores and also that the index doesnt recognize the second gpu card?? One funny thing, yesterday i flashed my bios to A07 just to see if setfsb worked better but no.. Later i just wanted to try some games and i couldnt get crossfire to work.. After a while i reinstalled the driver to dells 10.8 and still no cf.. Flashed it back to A09 and...... Noop... No cf working... This made me a bit ... Reinstalled the driver one more time and YES cf worked again.. Dono what happend but when i get my thumb out of my ............ and order a ssd i think i need to reinstall my OS..

Yea, BIOS won't have an affect on SetFSB since SetFSB works on the clock generator which is a motherboard component, but glad to hear you got the CF working.

 

An interesting thing I found out just now. Not to sure whats going on exaclty. May or may not be a power thing.

Well I set the setFSB clocks to 29, 20, 98, 39 (I did try 40 but it killed the comp instantly everytime oles) Then I would notice everytime I shut the lid down on the Alien then opened it back up the wireless was dead. So my net was dead and dls stopped dling in their tracks of course. Tried it 3 times to see if it happen and same thing each time. So I reduced the clock to 38 and tried the same thing. This seems to work fine and doesn't kill my wireless.

SO yeh just something weird I encountered lol. I also noticed that sometimes after I set the clock to 39 later I come back and find it set to 37 lol.

SO everyone else maxing out at 39 as well is it? or anyone been able to hit 40 and above?

I tried 40 with the 840qm and died instantly, I also noticed after I tried the 40 that with FSB off I would get random lockups when opening programs or file folders. I uninstalled set FSB and still got the lockups, Uninstalled Throttle Stop and still got them, then restored my comp to the day before and since havent had any lockups. Hence I have never tried close to 40 again!!

Yeh I get the same KO as soon as I set 40 and then hit update apply. BAM instant KO. Haven't experienced the lockups yet though. Thanks for that info, I'll be sure to look and watch out for them.

So you normally just use 39 then is it?

I seem to feel super comfortable at 36 and 37. 38 is not so bad either however 39 hmmmssssssssssss.....

Its working great so far for me in FIFA11. Almost makes it run like Usain Bolt without the need to OC my CPU.

Just thought I'd share my results oles!

It also seems to add this new setting option in CCC 3d section. Not to sure what it is or does.
The setting above the standard ever present Triple buffering.

Have you tried running 3dmark06 and seeing if these xtreme drivers improve your score ?

 

Good idea chiefs. Not as yet I was more interested with how FIFA11 would Play and hopefully BLACK OPs will run killer as well when it comes out in a couple of days.

I'll do a Vantage and 06 run in a bit. It sure would be awesome to be able to hit 17k LOL eeheheheh


BTW do you know what that Enable geometry Intancsing option does or is for?

Explanation of what that option does, taken from the link below :

Enable geometry instancing - Geometry instancing basically optimizes the rendering of objects which appear multiple times in a 3D scene by uploading one instance of the object and then replicating that as many times as needed. For example, with geometry instancing enabled, outdoor scenes with 3D objects like leaves, bushes and grass should be rendered faster, since the geometry for only one instance of a blade of grass is calculated and then reproduced over and over to create a field of grass. You should enable this option to improve performance in such cases, and only disable it if you notice graphical anomalies with multiple objects of the same type.

Okay thats strange but I've just noticed over the past couple of days now after restarting the notebook. I would go back to put in my settings for SetFSB however to find that they were already there.

They are already set to 29, 16, 98, 38.

So the 16 needs to be changed to 20 however everything else seems to have stayed set from 3 restarts ago. Hmmmmssssssss.



I just tried FIFA11 and its not running like if it were OC. SO it feels like a FAKE overclock lol. If you know what I mean. The numbers show that its OC in setFSB and CPU-z however when I'm gaming it doesn't feel like it should.

Yeh I have had something similar happen when i have overclocked it to its limit and it black screens and then I do a warm boot, it will keep the overclocked speed, and you can see it even in the bios. What I do then is to switch it off, take out the battery and then hold the power button down for more than 2 mins. After that its all good. I have once overclocked it and it black screened and even after holding down the power button to turn it off and then turning it back on it wouldn't even come up with the bios alien face splash screen. What I did was to remove the battery, and then I also disconnected the cmos battery for a couple of mins and then did a power drain on top of that. After that it was all good again. From what I have noticed, setfsb can screw up the pll chip and cause it to do these weird things, but its not permanent, a full power reset as above fixes it everytime.

Thats a great score, those drivers seem to be faster than the standard 10.10 Best I have got so far with the standard 10.10 is 17300 in 3dmark06. Might have to give these xtreme drivers a shot and see if i can hit the 18k mark.

 

19971 3d mark and 15882 vantage, stock settings for gpu and the 5% OC from the BIOS.

 

Going to run it one more time, want that 20k. These drivers have made a big differance though, everything is running faster. I will post my final scores in a bit.

 

Nice just ran a 20044 3D but my Vantage dropped to 15104, maybe because I ran them one right after the other. But, 20k I'm pumped I hit that number, can not figure out how to use the snipping tool that I used to take the pictures and get them to appear on the screen here. Can some one help me out so I can post my numbers with pics.

Installed the Xtreme 10.10 drivers. It boots up much faster than the standard 10.10. Use to take 21 seconds to get to the desktop with everything loaded. Now it does it in 14. Everything seems to run faster as well. However in 3dmark06 got 17600 up from 17300 with the standard 10.10. Still very happy with the score but i thought it would be better.

 

They just run all around better so far, I will post if I run in to any issues but, so far they are the best I have used.
