I want to know if there is any aftermarket screen that I can install on the m17x to replace this really glossy screen!

A...less...glossy...screen? Uhmm, short answer no. The m17x screens are all bonded with plexiglass to protect them. To my knowledge no one makes plexiglass in a matte finish. But you could find a screen protector that is anti-glare or has a matte finish. It may help.

Dammit, trying to decide between 9150 and m17x, and the 95% gamut matte screen is really what makes me want to get the 9150.

Yeah, that is a conundrum. What're the specs of the 9150 (I assume its a Gateway?)

Has anyone found an anti glare screen protector that's worth purchasing?

    It's almost exactly the same as the m17x. 7970 card, 8gb 1333mhz ram, i7 3610 processor, 95% gamut screen,

depends on the measurements of the area 51 screen. if its similar to the M17x R2 screen it won't fit. :(

The screen is actually matte. The plexiglass in front of it makes it appear glossy. If you want you can remove the plexiglass and just use the regular matte screen.

Doing so is a real pain though. A low temp oven or a massive heatgun is your friend in this case.

Very true. It would look weird though, the guts of the screen and webcam and stuff would be exposed. Plus, your lid wouldn't close right since the plexi is supposed to sit on those little rubber pads. But it would work. Best advice, use a heat gun on low-med setting so you don't cause the plexiglass to sweat.
