I find the R1 webcam quality is more grainy and also lacks brightness in comparison to R2 especially in low light conditions. R2 picks up the compensation very well.

I am querying because my R2 has a CCFL screen 1920*1200 manufactured in 2008. They accidentally fixed this during a service instead of an RGBLED.

Also is there any difference in light indicator for webcam between R1 and R2. I cant remember because this slip up happened right after I got my R2. I am awaiting a new replacement so meanwhile I am using this current machine. I find the webcam quality starkly differs between the 2.

Darn straight.... I would call them up ASAP and have them send me a RGB LED screen if I was in your shoes (was actually in a similar situation a month ago and that is what I did)

Well u guys are right...I am already approved for a brand new machine...just waiting to see what will R3 actually turn out to be. If I go for it I will have to forego the RGB but then since they have promised RGB for Dell Precision M6600, they might bring it to R3 also. By the way there are indeed changing all formats to 1920*1080.

So I am weighing my options carefully here. I am now entitled to get a new machine. Since I can wait, I felt deliberating was the best thing I should do.
