Need a new laptop, but was wondering if dell.com ever puts the M17x on sale via coupon code or whatever. I'd hate to order it now and then find out that if I had waited a week or so I could have saved some money.

It doesn't happen often and I wouldn't expect it to happen any time soon since they just came out.

Sales tend to happen for a reason.... to drive up business, attract customers, clear out inventory, etc.

For example, the XPS 17s have been on sale recently, my guess is because they want to clear out inventory before releasing the new line with the new i7s.

Thus, given the new i7s + high end video cards were just released on the R4, something people will (and have) be (and been) willing to pay a premium for, no reason for a sale at the moment.

You will very rarely find a sale on Alienware systems and if you do they are preconfigured systems which you can make minor changes too. They dont want everyone to have such a special item like Alienware Laptops

Don't know about your country but (UK) I've ordered 3 AW laptops in the last 5 months, each time i save my config to my cart, wait a couple of days and get a 10% off coupon. Not a trivial amount, worth a try...

last big time sale (15% off on 2000+, which you could couple with 10% off coupon and talk with the rep to add more, I got about 27% discount on mine) was around october last year, which was understandable as r3 was around for about 7 months? I guess there won't be any sales soon as I am sure they are selling like knife through butter nowadays..

BUT if you have US military in your family, there is one crazy discount AAFES which if you qualify beats pretty much anything :D

Unfortunately for most it was a price error and only lasted two days. Most orders were canceled. A lucky few flew under the radar like me stealing a nicely decked out R4 for $1,200. To bad the error didn't last longer.

OP, best bet is to find a coupon code and use epp as well as haggling.
