As a Gamer with m17x , which would you go for?

    Resolution or Frame rate?

    Resolution :
Pro : Very detailed screen. Things goes smaller (maybe its con to someone?) , more areas viewable.
    Con: Gaming's fps reduced.

    Frame rate :
Pro : More smooth then usual while gaming. (maybe fast load and 0.1% choppy?)
Con: Unable to enjoy very detailed pixel , smaller screen I guess?

    Please do not mention,

    - other monitor you gonna get.
    - getting high resolution screen and reduce to lower resolution if wanted.

*If anything I mentioned above does not make sense , correct me. Thanks.*

I vote for fps, it gives a smoother gameplay and all those small details are not visable anyway.

    640x480 & 130fps or 1920x1200 & 20fps :p
I think a ballance between the two is better.

I voted resolution but not at the expense of smooth gameplay

it depends on what you'replaying I find that most RTS users will perfer resolution so they can see more of what's going on while alot of FPS beautiful will more then likely prefer FPS numbers. Again this is not a Definite answer, just the trend I feel.

Silly question. With 6970M/5870CF and Sandy bridge you are able to get both :)

It's not really a silly question, because you're thinking in terms of GPU power, but what if I was thinking in terms of picking the monitor (900p vs 1080p) If I didn't care about resolution and only FPS I'd pick the 900p monitor then, wouldn't I?

I don`t undertand the question. Alienware offer 1080p with M17x.

Yea the newer r3's are in 900p or 1080p and the r2's were 1200 or 1440 900 or something like that. And of course the higher resolutions gave you more real estate while the lower resolutions obviously give you a few more FPS numbers. And I was merely just saying that it's not just a GPU answer it's also a Monitor Answer as well.

This poll really needs a third option of both.

What is the sense in more powerful graphics technology when they dumb down the resolution on the newer models? If I can not get high fps on a 1920x1200 or higher resolution screen, then I'll hold off on a new purchase until something becomes available again that can do it.
