As I mentioned in the title, I already went through every page searching for a reliable review on the fit for the astro scout backpack. Some have said it fits the M17x R3 just right and others said that it doesn't fit at all. So will my laptop fit or not?
-
It is a tight fit for the R3, but I believe it is better that it is a tight fit. I don't want my R3 moving around in it's pouch.

I currently own and use an ASTRO Scout MLG bag for my M17x R3 and it's not an extremely tight fit but it does slide into the sleeve quite snug. As for the rubber coating rubbing off, the ASTRO Scout bag has a fluffy soft material on the padded laptop slot. I usually put the rubber coating facing this material and haven't had a scratch or anything yet. A little bit of the side (like a quarter-half of an inch) sticks out of the laptop sleeve, but the bag has much more space at the top of the bag and doesn't bother me.
I can post some pictures if you want as well, I remember the troubles of looking through forums for the perfect bag and understand lol. I originally got the Scout for my old laptop (ASUS G73) and it surprisingly fit that as well, just very uncomfortably. However, it works rather nicely for the m17x r3. -

Sure thing, when I get back home I'll definitely grab my DSLR and snap some pics for ya.~

Subscribing to see how big the Scout is, cuz my Orion is bigger than what I actually need/would like.
-
Yea the scout seems to be perfect size-wise but I thought that you said it lacked sufficient padding.

Alright~ Sorry for the wait guys, it was a long night out. But finally got home and managed to get some shots for ya.
I've had this bag for a while and it fits the m17x r3 perfectly for me. However, I don't know if it's due to factory design or having my old notebook (Asus G73JW - Very very fat) stretch out the laptop sleeve of the bag to the point where it's a bit bigger but still elastic enough to conform around the m17x r3.

If there's any other kind of pictures you wanted to see of the bag/laptop-in-bag, tell me.I'll be glad to shoot some more if you want.
EDIT: Whoah, so I forgot to resize those images and they ended up huge on the forum, lol. Whoops. -

Nice pics! But the ones of the R3 pouch lining don't do it justice in my opinion, I don't know if it didn't come out right in the pic or if your bag is a little worn-in. The plush material is much thicker and is much softer than it looks.
-
Haha, Thanks Jas~ Yeah. I've had this bag for over a year with daily use on and off campus, so it's a bit worn out. Especially since I used to carry an ASUS G73JW in that thing (Yuck, was rough getting that monster in the pouch - And in retrospect, probably wasn't good for the bag's health). When I got the bag new, the material was AMAZINGLY fluffy. Hell, it's probably softer and more plush than my pillows lol.
But the top compartment has the same plush material lining for cell phones or small gadgets, as well as a mouse compartment lined with the same material. These two compartments are still as fluffy as the day I got them, since I usually put smaller electronics in there. -
It definitely fits, and it is an awesome backpack, take it. I have both and it is snug but not too snug.
-
Wow, looks like a good bag. Has about the same amount of padding, if not slightly a bit more than what the Orion has. They're about the same size in terms of width as well. The Scout looks like it has a smaller profile though.
Thanks for the pix, mang. -
Nice bag, looks like it has plenty of room!
-
very awesome pictures @_@
me want to get one -
I picked one of these up for my m17x R3, and it fits nicely.
I also have an Astro A40 headset, wired and wireless mix-amps.
Loved the quality the Astro brings! I like having a Backpack that i can move my laptop/xbox360/ps3 and headset with!...
the backpack fits the Laptop snugly, which is actually quite nice.
There is good padding.
Great pick up for me... I know Astro products are more $$ than other companies, but the quality i think is factor. -
can someone pls giv us an approximate of the backpacks interior dimensions, both if possible.. i wanna fit an A3 sized sketchpad into the bag but am not sure if itll fit
-
hey guys.. as i am from australia.. my selection for m17x r3 is slightly limited.. however, after going through the internet and this form for a 5-6 days, i managed to minimize my scope onto these two bags:
1. Everki Beacon
2. Astro Scout
I just wanna ask u guys, which is better in terms of:
1. Comfort
2. Capacity (will it fit 2-3 a3 sketchpads 17"x12")
3. Padding
another factor to consider is that the everki beacon will cost me 98 aud plus shipping while the astro scout will cost me 122 aud plus shipping -
Astro scout has a slim profile, even when it's loaded, Everki looks pretty beefy. you can find pictures of astro scout at the below thread

i dont know though.. coz no one from the m17x forum ACTUALLY posted photos about their backpack with the m17x in it

I have the Everki and it is pretty GD awesome. The backpack feels a little stressed(overfull) with the m17x in it though.
-
I was trying to decide between these 2 bags aswell , ended up picking the everki (ordered it few days ago and havent recived it yet :X).
Astro Scout question...already read the WHOLE backpack thread!
