Hey guys - was hoping someone could help out here..

I just picked up the new ASUS 27" NVIDIA 3d 2 monitor.

I am having some issues getting the full 120hz out my laptop. I have tried both an HDMI to HDMI cable and also an HDMI to DVI cable but it wont let me set it to 120hz under custom options in the NVIDA control panel. It did work for a few seconds when i plugged in the HDMI to DVI but now the screen just goes black till the time runs out.. Thoughts? Do I need to get some sort of miniDisplay port to HDMI or DVI Cable to get this to work right?

    I have the

    MX17 r2 Nvidia GTX 460m Intel i7 2720qm
    running Nvidia 296.10 drivers

Thanks in advance for the help - let me know if I did not post enough system specs.

The M17x R2 will not output 120Hz thru HDMI, you'll need to use your display port.
Also check if your monitor can do 120Hz from HDMI in.

I think he as an r3. If you look at the GPU and CPU he listed they aren't r2 parts. OP: I would look under the nvidia control panel and see what you can find there. :)

    Yup, my bad.
Does that change things? - I was going to go get a miniDisplayPort to DVI adaptor.

i have the alienware 2310 3d monitor and havent had any success getting 3d to output from my laptop. ive tried all the combos i can think of with no success. i emailed several companies that make minidisplay port to dual link dvi adapters. they all said that their adapters only support 60hz, even the ones that are "active" and also use usb power. i havent actually tried one of these though casue they are a bit expensive for an experiment.

my monitor have hdmi and dl dvi inputs. what does your asus monitor have?

heres a link to the adapters i was talking about Amazon.com: Accell B087B-003J UltraAV miniDisplayPort/DVI-D Dual-Link Adapter: Electronics

Well it might not matter - saw a post that mentioned the HDMI 120hz driver was broke with the new NVIDIA drivers... So we might not have to use that mini DisplayAdaptor thing if NVIDIA ever gets around to fixing the drivers...

Edit: It has hdmi dvi and vga
