ATI Catalyst? Mobility Display Driver
You know what to do
-
you cant use that one right? It disables switchable graphics. What do I need to do to keep switchable graphics but still have 11.9

I used this one: AMD Catalyst 11.9 RC Mobility.exe
Download and install over the dell drivers.
So that means install the official Dell drivers first, restart windows, then without uninstalling or cleaning or anything like that, proceed directly to install the 11.9 drivers. -
Hmmmm weird,
Just tried to install it a couple of times. Screen does the black flashing thing like usual but it doesn't return to the display, it just stays black.
Cheers. -

I think if you have say 11.8 drivers installed already you just install over the top. Normally someone posts an official link. The AMD site is confusing to say the least & various links don't even seem to include the driver. I believe the best one to use is:
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/mobile/11-9_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl.exe
I'm not home so cannot comment/test fully. Has anyone tried these, run any benchmarks? The Revelator is normally the guru around here for guidance/benchmarks. I personally still use 3d Mark 06 as my gauge. Get about 19,500/19,600 on my 2820QM / 6970m (single card) so hoping for at least parity on the score. -
Cheers. -
am using old 11.6 drivers, dont have a reason to go through pain of uninstalling them, installing dell drivers and 11.9 on top -
i'm on 11.10 for bf3
-
ditto
( their beta drivers tho )
-
I now have the 11.10 drivers but no catalyst program ? is that normal

Why are driver updates such a headache? I probably over stress but there is always a danger of bricking the system or causing lots of work unravelling everything.
The same goes for Windows Updates and BIOS updates. I know things are supposed to be improved but I just wish AMD would give it a rest and not release a new driver every single month. You kind of feel compelled to update despite the fear. It's not just a 15 minute thing either as I have to spend hours afterwards, benchmarking, booting up various games etc just to ensure everything works as expected.
Yep, not keen on driver updates at all!!! -
SlickDude80 Notebook Prophet
the 11.9s showed a nice speed improvement for me in Crysis 2...so its worth the download

How do you find these drivers, I've looked all over the ati site and can only find the link to the catalyst control centre which does not include the driver?
Thanks -
i dont have too many issues with driver updates tbh, maybe im just lucky lol

Mate. God knows where one finds the drivers on their site. It is the worst thing in the world to locate! I found the link from a post on the m18 website. I know it's good because previous versions have all had the same link but just the version being different.

After installing these drivers I can no longer read my gpu core voltage in gpu-z. Anyone else experiencing this problem?
-
Thanks for the link though.

I had an issue with high-ish idle temps initially (~51-56C). I uninstalled, ran driver sweeper, and re-installed. Seems to have fixed the idle temps (now at ~43-46C). Not sure what the issue was. I haven't had a chance to test gaming performance, but I am sure it is fine.
