    Attempting M17x AlienFX Re-Flash, i need backup!!!

    Guys there is a fix i have stumbled across for the notorious lights out problem (no keyboard, touch, head lighting) which looks very promising, but i need some help..

    can anyone tell me:

    what is the filename/extension of the most recent AlienFX firmware for the M17x(r1)?? its usually a .rom extension, or .bin.

    I have command centre vA07 (dell support) but i cannot find any AlienFX firmware that i recognise.. there are a couple of files which look similar but have .HEX extensions. eg

    FWM_0512_00010103.hex (35k)
    FWM_0514_00020001.hex (36k)

    are these the m17x alienFX bios files!?? if so which should i use to flash the FX bios!?

    they are different to the FX rom i recognise:

    FW3410_00010019.ROM (10.4k)

    (this is the m15x alien fx bios, which BTW fixed the m15x perfectly)

    i suppose a better question should be: do the m15 and m17 share the same FX chip, and do they have the same keyboard layout? if so i will just go ahead and use the rom i recognise to flash the fx chip..

    otherwise id like to use a more up to date rom file, which i cannot identify.

    a bad flash by old command centre caused this problem, id like to avoid using a firmware from 2008.

    confusing yes? =)

    where can i get the latest alien fx ROM/BIN for M17x-r1 and what is it called!?

    i am guessing it should be bundled with the A07 (latest) CC for the R1 ?

    Hi my name is Jeremy I have been fixing the AlienFX issue for the past year. I have fixed around 25 of them (m15x and m17x) all flawlessly with no issues.

    I built a custom programmer because the USB debugger was frying motherboards on people. (well shorting out resistors)
