ok ive been having this issue for a time now, ive been playing battlefield 3 for hours, and i dont know exactly when it happens, but audio "freezes" and repeats the last second itself forever, making it noisy and annoying. but still, video is fast and no problem (its unplayable this way). when i hit quit, it freezes and doesnt close and i get lots of trouble to bring up task manager to close it.

if i make it, everything seems toooo unresponsive even shutting down the pc. and if i make it to shut it down, it takes time.. when rebooting, everything's fine.

what can it be? ive had this in my other pc too, not only in this alienware r3, so i think its windows 7.. i dont know, any ideas?

Sounds like the audio driver is tripping over itself. Does it happen in other games, or just BF3?

Things to try if you're looking for a quick fix.
Reinstall your WIRELESS card drivers. (Clean wipe)
Reinstall your sound drivers. (Clean wipe)

sounds like you are overheating. The computer freezes. The audio symptoms is a by-product of the freezing.

ill try to keep HWmonitor up, for when this happens i can see if its temp. which i doubt, i have a coolermaster under my r3.

and yes, it has happened before in other games, but usually its in videogames, but also happens when listening to music for many hours.

clean install, like device manager, uninstall.. like that?

    thanks for replies

A simple way to see if its your temps is to run Furmark extreme burnin test. It tells you your temps right on the screen.

You can also lower your OC on the 460m slightly to see if that helps.

    maybe something like 800/1600/1500
