I'm more wondering if anyone else has seen this. I came across this issue today. When I hooked up my headphones audio continued to play through the laptop speakers. I had to switch the profile in Sound Blaster Recon in order for it to toggle over. The same was true when I disconnected. Anyone seen this?
To check for a software/hardware issue I uninstalled the Sound Blaster Recon drivers and the issue went away so the hardware is fine. Currently I'm setting Windows download the version that they have on the WU servers.

do you have the onboard drivers installed? possibly a clash between the two.

Its the onboard ones that were having the issue. Running a final test.
EDIT: So I went back and did some quick tests. As you saw above pulling the drivers made the issue clear up. Then it worked fine with the Windows Update drivers. At this point I had the driver but none of the supporting apps (I like the "loud" mode.). I went back and reinstalled the Dell supplied drivers. Now the issue is gone. The only thing I can think of is a software glitch. Maybe a software setting got bumped or something.
It was the strangest thing too.... The system ack'd the connection but never switched audio output unless I switched the profile. -

Lol. I don't know where you are getting that from. Anyways I was always using stock. I never used an "updated" driver.
The issue happened on stock drivers in case anyone didn't quite get that from my original post.
Audio output doesn't switch when headphones are connected/disconnected?
