Avoid nvidia driver update notification???

Hello,
I'm trying to play NFS The Run and when I execute the game Nvidia driver update notification appears, as I have version 260.99 and it recommends to update to 285.38.

This version isnt compatible with my nvidia 260 cards. I tried once forcing to install 285.38 and it worked worse than 260.99 playing Battlefield 3. The thing is Battlefield 3 runs after acepting the notification but not NFS The Run.

Any solution to my problem?

Hey, first of all 260.99 is pretty outdated, i have an R1 with GTX 260 SLI like you i assume, and im running the newest drivers, go to laptopvideo2go.com and download the modded file for the driver version you want to install, after unpacking your nvidia driverinstaller (and it fails) exit and open the folder you extracted the files to. search for the same filename in your nvidiafolder as the one you downloaded from laptopvideo2go and replace it with the downloaded one. It should install. Nvidias verde drivers have some serious issues with M17x and if you experience crashes, go to your BIOS and turn PCIE-Gen 2 to OFF in your GPU menu, that should stop it. then boot up and enjoy . I got a huge performance / quality boost in BF3 from Nvidias newest beta drivers 285.79

 

The nvidia driver 285.38 is now also out of date. I downloaded and installed version 285.62 the other night and has run flawlessly since (this is with PCI gen 2 disabled in bios). The 285.62 driver is available here:

This is to update the .inf files or the driver will not install.

Install procedure by katalin_2003 (many thanks):

•Download the 285.62 drivers to your Desktop(or wherever you want)
•Double click and let them extract the files in the default directory (C:\NVIDIA)
•download infs.zip and extract the two files
•cut/copy them and paste in "C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\285.62\WinVista_Win7_64\International\Display.Driver
And replace originals"
•Go back to the "International" folder and run setup.exe
•continue performing normal installation steps, choosing Custom(Advanced)>Next>and check Perform a clean installation>Next and at the windows prompt choose Install...anyway
•Reboot when prompted and voila
•Don't forget to reenable SLi in nVIDIA control Panel

Thank you so much both of you. I updated to 285.79 and it working fine. The thing is a previous one didnt work fine to me in BF3.

Now, there's another issue. NFS The Run only works fine at 1280 resolution. Above that it flickers no stop. Does this happen to you?

 

Apologies, I did not read through your post. And with it another Nvidia driver (285.79) is released. They are a bit busy at the moment aren't they.

 

I don't have NFS, so I can't say. I do have Modern Warfare 3 and set the graphical settings on ultra and it plays well even on 285.62. I might have a go at 285.79 tomorrow after my morning lecture.
